Johnnie Morton used to catch passes for the Chiefs, Lions and 49ers.

He caught something Saturday in Los Angeles that he certainly didn’t want — a devastating right hand to the head from Bernard Ackah of the Ivory Coast in Morton’s first professional mixed martial arts bout.

Morton was knocked out 38 seconds into the fight at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, where he used to play his home games with Southern Cal. His head appeared to bounce off the mat as he hit the ground.

Morton was carried out of the ring on a stretcher with a brace around his neck.

38 seconds!! Of course, that's possibly 37 seconds more than I'd have lasted as an armchair MMA fan. :) nApparently he also refused to take an after bout urine test..
